Ethos / Ethics
Both behind the scenes and on the ground, Creeptreats is owned and operated from a firm stance of abolition against colonial and imperial rule, and in support of Indigenious land sovereignty. We are a pro-disability, environmental, social, and economic justice-centric business, and seek to be stewards and co-conspirateurs towards collective freedom.
In clear terms: Creeptreats does not tolerate classism, ableism, racism, colorism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, zionism, body-shaming, or other forms of bigotry, both macro or microaggressive in nature.
co-conspirateur guarantee
While still in early stages of business structuring, the owner and operator of Creeptreats remains a firm contributor and signal-booster of local and global calls for mutual aid. A portion of income made by Creeptreats has and will always go toward as-needed funding of community support efforts each month. We recognize that by pouring wealth we make directly back into the pockets of community members and small businesses who need it most, we stand to offer more impact than hasty donations to corporations, large orgs, or opaque name-brand philanthrophy campaigns, that only maintain the structurally-oppressive imbalance of capital.
This is also why we offer sliding-scale prices on all our merchandise and services. We believe that cost should not be a barrier for owning and enjoying weird art!
While we can't always adjust webstore prices to reflect this, please contact us to ask for any item's acceptable price range so we can help reasonably accommodate your budget.
Please see our stories and highlights on Instagram for how to get involved with current and ongoing Mutual Aid.
Sustainability
In an effort to reduce waste and mitigate harm from consumerism (e.g. fast fashion, drop-shipping, etc.), Creeptreats takes extra care to ensure the business prioritizes sustainable operations.
- The protective bags we source to mount our prints are plant-based and compostable (for compost instructions see the ClearBags website).
- We rarely purchase brand stinkin' new art materials, preferring to save scraps, odds, and ends to reuse, recycle, or upcycle materials and packaging whenever possible.
- Our products are either created small batch, One-of-a-Kind (OOAK), and/or bespoke items, and never mass-produced.
- So far, only our stickers and our art prints are sourced externally, and only from vetted, fellow small manufacturers.
This being said, if you see Creeptreats designs on any clothing or merchandise outside of what we offer on our official website, ko-fi shop, vending booths, or legally-conscripted by local galleries, they are fakes - please report and do not purchase!
